Environmental Stewardship

Environmental Stewardship (ES) is an English agri-environment scheme that provides funding for farmers and other land managers in England who deliver effective environmental management on their land.

Environmental Stewardship has three elements:

• Entry Level Stewardship (including the new Uplands strand of ELS, Upland ELS)
• Organic Entry Level Stewardship (including the new Uplands strand of OELS which is known as UOELS)
• Higher Level Stewardship

The primary objective of Environmental Stewardship is to conserve wildlife, maintain and enhance landscape quality and character, protect the historic environment, promote public access and understanding of the countryside and to protect natural resources by improving water quality and reducing soil erosion and surface water run off.

CMS UK can assist and advise how best to match your existing farming enterprise with one of the above schemes. The ELS (UELS) and OELS (OUELS) can be entered without taking any land out of agricultural production or to change your existing farming methods.
